Jerome Marroquin

It has been my great joy and privilege to serve as senior pastor at SonRise since 2008.
I first began my ministry here in 1990 as the Associate Pastor of Family Ministries back in the days when we were known as the Fallbrook Presbyterian Church. In July of 1985, I married my wife, Terri, who was one of my best friends and a fellow student at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. After receiving my M.Div in Theology from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena in ’86, we went on to welcome four children into our family: Bethany, Josiah, Micah, and Caleb. They are truly the joy of our lives and our most cherished blessing from the Lord. Terri and I are the proud grandparents of Addy and Luke (Josiah and Lynette’s children), and for over eight years now, we readily and happily answer to our new names: “Nana” and “Papa Rome!”
SonRise has been our family for over thirty-five years now, and this church will always be “home” to us. A more loving and caring community of brothers and sisters in Christ you truly will not find, and I consider myself extraordinarily blessed to be called to shepherd the Lord’s flock here.
When I’m not out ministering, or preparing sermons, I am a voracious reader: “So many books, so little time!” I love listening to the music of Will Ackerman, the Beatles, John Michael Talbot, and Phil Keaggy, and nothing thrills my soul like hiking through a beautiful green forest or a winding mountain trail. I confess I’m a huge Chargers fan in spite of all the “haters” here in San Diego County.
But most importantly, I am a passionate follower of Jesus, and every day the “upside down” good news of the Gospel continues to blow my mind and fill my soul with awe!
